    We will be holding a Free Virtual Presentation for our December meeting.

    SUMMARY: This session overviews the evolution of technology to achieve extended joint spacing of concrete floors in commercial construction. It reviews key challenges in concrete slab-on-grade applications, traditional approaches to achieve extended joint spacing, and advantages of optimizing performance and maximizing joint spacing with shrinkage-compensating concrete. Participants will gain an understanding of how shrinkage-compensating concrete works, how it achieves dimensional stability, and how it improves long-term behavior of the concrete slab. Guidelines for designing and specifying Type K cement concrete are reviewed, as well as specification and installation “best practices” to ensure durable, long-term performance.

    The presentation wil begin at 12 pm.  The webinar session will open 15 minutes early for announcements.

    SPEAKER: Susan Foster-Goodman ([email protected]) is the Director of Strategic Initiatives & Komponent Sales at CTS Cement Manufacturing Corp. She holds a Masters of Business Administration from UMUC along with technical and professional certifications; CSI CCPR, EMC, SSLP, LSSGBC, CMS, ACI CFTT–G1, AWCI-EIFS CP.  She is a leader in sales and project management, technical support, and a wide range of strategic growth initiatives for construction industry manufacturers for over 30 years. Her experience in industrial and commercial construction includes shrinkage-compensating concrete, CSA cement technology, air & moisture-barriers, decking & waterproofing systems, stucco, EIFS, tile setting materials, architectural finishes & decorative overlays, epoxy & urethane coatings & flooring systems, marine coatings, and secondary containment.

    Originally from South Carolina, she now lives in Los Angeles. She’s passionate about making a difference and is excited to share how shrinkage-compensating concrete can help optimize performance, sustainability and service life of concrete structures.
